I was awarded the University of South Carolina ASPIRE I Track IIb Award in the spring of 2017 through the Office of the Vice President for Research.  This competitive award is given for novel, innovative, early-stage research projects.  My proposal included combining voltammetry and confocal laser scanning microscopy to investigate serotonin neurochemistry in neuronal stem cells.  This award will allow me to travel to Mannheim, Germany, where I will work in collaboration with Dr. Thorsten Lau at the Central Institute for Mental Health, Mannheim Germany.

In other news,  March 2017, I co-organized and chaired a symposium at the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy titled "Analytical Techniques for Probing Neurochemistry" with Dr. Thomas Linz (Wayne State).
